So, for the last few weeks, I have been woken up in the middle of the night by an owl. I swear, it is the loudest owl ever and stays for over an hour. At first I thought it was cool, but last night I was having the hardest time sleeping anyway and the owl showed up right when I had finally fallen asleep. So I decided to go outside to see if I could see it and scare it away. I could hear the dumb thing-but couldn't find it for the life of me. I went back to bed a little freaked out actually (it didn't help that Alex is gone "hunting" and I am 9 months prego). While thinking about this owl, I had a sudden flashback to my college days that I hadn't thought about in years-I think it explains the owl ghost that is haunting me. This might get a little long-so feel free to skip if you don't care-I just thought it might exorcise the ghost so I can sleep tonight.
It all started late one night when a group of my friends randomly decided to go to the caves in Tucson to do some exploring. After crawling through the caves (not my favorite thing to do) it was like 3 in the morning and we were driving home. My friend Doug (who is now my brother in law) was driving my car with me in shotgun with two of my best friends in the backseat half asleep. Because of the telescopes in Tucson, they hardly have any street lights and it was a really dark road and Doug was driving really fast when this white thing floated onto the road in front of us. We both asked each other-"what is that" and I thought it was a plastic grocery bag that had blown into the road-but right before we got to it, it raised its head and spread its wings. All I saw was two gigantic eyes looking at us-right before we nailed it. It was one of those really rare white snowy owls and we totally smeared it onto the front of our car. It hit so hard that the girls in the backseat woke up and were screaming. We felt really bad-but didn't know what to do, so we kept going. So last night, all I could think about was this gorgeous white owl-staring at me before I killed it. I just want to say to the owl that I didn't mean it-I thought you were a trash bag-you should have stayed out of the road and besides-Doug was driving not me. I can give you his address if you want it, I'm sure he would love to hear from you (he thought it was funny). So please stop the insane hooting outside my window and let me get some sleep tonight!! I would really appreciate it.
